The Association for the Transport and Communications Museum (in Portuguese, AMTC) was created by public deed on the 21st February 1992 and it is a non-profit private institution constituted by 56 individual associates and 25 institutional associates.

AMTC is declared of public utility in March the 26th, 1993 and on the 18th October 1999, the Ministry of Finances signs the Transfer of Rights Registry of the Oporto Customs House building for its headquarters.

Other AMTC’s goals are the preservation of infrastructures of known public historical interest relating transports and communications, the creation and maintenance of document and information centre on both these themes and the development of new ways of making the public at large interested in the transport and communication issue.

On 21st February, AMTC celebrated 26th year with an extremely positive assessment of the activity developed throughout that period in the scope of the Transport and Communications Museum and the Congress Centre of the Oporto Customs House.
